OMU OGEM Examined Early Intervention Practices for Children with Down Syndrome and Their Families.

The Ondokuz Mayıs University Developmental Education Application and Research Centre (OGEM) held a meaningful event to strengthen children with Down syndrome and their families. At the event, held online with the support and collaboration of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Centre (UZEM) infrastructure, professional development standards for early intervention practice were examined.

While the importance of early intervention processes was stressed at the event, the professional approaches and practices that make a difference to the development of people with Down syndrome were also discussed. The setting of standards for the training of the professionals working in this field, and the steps to be taken to secure families' active participation in the process, were also assessed.

With this event OGEM offered both the academic community and practitioners in the field ethical, scientific and practical knowledge about the early intervention process, and so encouraged the professional development that aims to support children with Down syndrome from every angle.
