"White Cane" Week for the Visually Impaired Webinar Series Has Begun

The first event in the webinar series titled "Current Issues in Special Education", organised by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Developmental Education Application and Research Centre (OGEM), was held in an online setting on 21 January 2025 with the support of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Centre (UZEM) infrastructure.

The first event in the webinar series titled "Current Issues in Special Education", organised by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Developmental Education Application and Research Centre (OGEM), was held in an online setting on 21 January 2025 with the support of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Distance Education Centre (UZEM) infrastructure.

In the first session of the event, Prof. Bülbin Sucuoğlu, a retired academic of the Division of Pre-school Education in the Department of Primary Education at Hacettepe University, met participants with her presentation titled "Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in Early Childhood Education". The presentation covered in depth the basic principles of applied behaviour analysis, approaches to intervening at an early age and their effect on the education processes of people with special needs.

In the second presentation, given as part of the same event, Dr Mustafa Doğuş, an academic of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Department of Special Education, gave a talk titled "The Role of Technology in the Education of People with Visual Impairment". The presentation examined in detail the assistive technologies used in the education of people with visual impairment, accessibility practices and the contribution digital tools make to the learning process.
